Lagos state is steeped in history and Lagos Island, the Central Business District, is still very reminiscent of its colonial past and Afro-Brazillian influence. Begin your tour with pick up from your hotel at 8am. You shall avoid the hustle and bustle of the busy markets of Lagos Island on this Sunday half day tour. You will take a short ride from your hotel in a Keke, Lagos' signature yellow tricycles that is a basic means of public transportation in the state. You will ride the Keke with your host and guide to Lagos Island where you will commence a walking tour through the colonial streets of downtown Lagos. Your tour will begin at Freedom Park, a former prison in the colonial era now turned leisure park, from where you will walk down Broad Street, to the former Independence Square spotting buildings such as the Old Secretariat Building, Library and more. You will then proceed to the Marina Street where you will stop at the gothic style Cathedral Church among other notable buildings, discovering the history behind them and the significance of their architecture. After the walking tour you will return by Keke and be taken for a picnic with a view of the Atlantic ocean.
